The World I Live In Today

I sit in this cell, this cell I call home. This hell I endure is my

world. You see the real world goes on while mine stands still.

You see my world was ripped away from me one June

afternoon. I don’t know how to explain the feelings I have

inside. This heartache, this never ending pain that another

human has put upon me. You see I no longer feel physical

pain, I have been beaten beyond my closest family members

identifying me. That pain no longer has a place inside of me.

My only pain comes from heartaches, empty dreams, and

having blood turn there backs on me and walk away. I am not

a bad person. I am not a sick man. I am a loyal man, true to his

word and true to those that are loyal and true to me. You see it

was lies that brought me to my knees. Lies that were told by a

jealous woman with vindictive thoughts. Do I show her my

anger, do I show her my pain, "no." I will not let her break my

pride down with her empty lies. You see my friends, a day will

come when the truth is told. I wait for this day patiently while

others cry out at night hoping, praying another will hear their

pain. You see I am a quiet man, I yell and show nothing. My

eyes are the only place where one can see to tell my pain. I

will not die in here, I will not lose my pride,  for one day I will

have my freedom back. But until then my loyal friends, you

can count on me walking this life of hell with respect, pride,

integrity, and above all, love for all you guys that are here to

set me free.                            Colton Calhoun
