Floyd, after reading what I found, I drafted the letter,

as you see below.

I am in disbelief!

Do not get me wrong, I cant believe your Justice system is so out of step, an individual, like Colton, you his parents, his brothers and sisters are left to fight a battle that should not have taken place in the first place.

It IS my intent to send this to many more papers, I had trouble with my e-mail system last night (would you believe, I HAVE TROUBLE LOL EH?)

I will be drafting a letter to each Member of your Legislature as well!

In my opinion, it is time to make them earn their keep!

This should not have taken place, has to be addressed and laws need to be looked at so others dont find themselves at the mercy of a vindictive individual.

The system MUST protect the accuser and accused, not be weighted in favor of one over the other, as is the case now.

THE LETTER AS SENT TO A NUMBER OF OREGON PAPERS.

If I was an elected Representative for the State of Oregon I’d be hanging my head in shame! In my opinion, not one elected Representative deserves the title given what is and has taken place over the years. It is obvious State Representative’s don’t care about ensuring laws meet todays standards. State Representatives seem oblivious to what is going on and to be blunt what has been going on is a travesty of immense proportion, in my opinion.

Men, young men are found guilty and sentenced to prison for what? Suggested rape, yet today in Oregon, forensic evidence is not possible, it holds nothing related to possible guilt or innocence! What is possible are untruths, the result of a women whose intent, in my opinion, to seek vengeance only because they were dropped by a boyfriend for someone else.

Do you realize an individual only has to suggest violation? It could have been six months ago but that not need matter the accused has to prove innocence, the accuser only has to suggest it took place.

How laughable until you realize there are men, some pretty young men who are or have served time because a women has “suggested” they were violated! Excuse me, as a Legislator I ASSUME my responsibility is to ensure the “lady of justice” has all the available facts in order to assure justice is meted out fairly, right?

In what is and has taken place, in my opinion, Legislators from all party’s not only assure the lady of justice is blind but deaf and dumb as well. Fairness,  in my opinion, just to the accuser. If the accuser is attempting to be vengeful only, it is truly a sad day for our so-called justice system.

If one needs a case to look at to see of what I refer to perhaps you should ask questions as they pertain to Colton Calhoun. He resides in a prison cell in Salem Oregon. Someone tell me why he would stand accused when he had another girlfriend albeit that friends best friend… duh!

Of course you can say he was found guilty, it’s his tough luck, or you can find the decency to assure he and others are dealt with properly, not some archaic law or laws that require adjustment to fit how we live today.

I dare suggest far too many legislators will opt to not do a thing. If you have a son beware as you too could find yourself, and your son as has Colton and his parents. Don’t believe for a moment your son could not stand accused as has Colton. Why are we not assuring ourselves our laws are not just protecting those who have been violated but more to the point assure ourselves justice is fair to the accused as well?

It is time to ask questions of those we elect. Why wait until you find out the hard way, as has Colton and his parents? Indeed the wheels of justice turn, ever so slowly and those who sit in a cell as Colton does today wonder about the American way and why so many not only fight but have died to protect our way of life in far off places!
